FUNDAY SCHOOL T-SHIRT
How cool is this? After a few weeks of designing and fundraising the teenagers from St John's presented the Sunday School members with a tshirt each. We love the colour and the logo.
PEBBLES GROUP - Diane has brought her friends into Sunday School and has told us stories about them. We have been learning how listening to Jesus can help us live our life a kinder, happier way.
Here is a picture of Diane's friends. They all have different things happening in their lives.
Tiger cubs's grandad has died and he feels sad, the grandad parrot is old and tired, hedgehog gets picked on sometimes because he has funny hair, piglet is new to Heywood and has a different accent, Kevin is a popular boy but can be naughty and bunny has a poorly heart and can't run very fast.
THE UNINVITED GUEST (Luke 7 36-50)
The story this week is about bunny's birthday party. As you know bunny has a poorly heart and has to play quietly. Bunny and his mum made a list of bunny's friends to invite to the party. Mum decided not to invite Kevin as he has a reputation for being silly and a bit rough especially with Bunny. He would probably be a bit too much for bunny to cope with.
On the way to the party Piglet met Kevin playing on his skateboard on the street. Piglet told Kevin where he was going. Kevin said 'Oh I will come along with you. I like Bunny and I would love to wish him a happy birthday'.
They arrived at the party and knocked on the door. Mum answered and looked a little bit shocked but was too polite to turn Kevin away. She was worried he would start being silly, expect Bunny to run around and get out of breath, knock the jellies over and spill the drinks, he had that awful muddy skateboard with him too......
Kevin dashed over to Bunny and hugged him and said he was so glad he had found out it was his birthday in time. He was sorry for being silly at school and hoped he could make it up to him. He said he was sorry he had no present with him but would let Bunny have little rides on his precious skateboard on the driveway. Bunny giggled and smiled. He had a lovely time. Bunny was glad that Kevin had come to his party.
Some of the children and Mum could not understand why nobody was cross at Kevin for just turning up.
Grandad Parrot said that Kevin was sorry for silly things he had done and had done a kind thing in wishing Bunny happy birthday and sharing his skateboard.
We heard the story of the woman who came uninvited to the Pharisee's home where Jesus was eating and wept on his feet and dried them with his hair.
We pray that we can be like this woman and Kevin, and say sorry for what we have done wrong and show our love with all our heart.
Keep following this space to hear more of the friends stories.
